Gwent Probation
Board Gwent Probation Board oversees the work of Gwent
Area and is answerable to the Home Secretary on performance matters.
Board members are recruited from the local communities and come from a range of backgrounds. The Board meets regularly through the year and members receive
a small payment for their services.
The Board also promotes partnership working with other local agencies in the drive to reduce crime. It is also the employer of over 250 staff.
The Chair of the Board is Councillor Jim McIlwee.
The Chief Officer, Jane Coates, is also a member of the Board. Jane has been Chief Officer for three years. She is also a qualified Probation Officer of over thirty years standing.
