We
employ over 250 staff.
More than 60% of staff work directly with offenders. This includes working in our two prisons and eight main office locations.
Other staff work in supporting roles such as training, research,
information technology, admin & clerical, finance, human resources
and estates. |

About
us: Introduction Gwent
is one of 42 probation areas in England and Wales. Together with the National
Probation Directorate we form the National Probation Service for England and Wales.
Gwent Probation Board oversees the work of Gwent Area and is answerable to the
Home Secretary on performance matters.
The Chair of the Board is Jim McIlwee. The Chief Officer, Jane Coates, is also a member of the Board and is a qualified Probation Officer with over thirty years service.
